dc.description.abstractThis study investigates the impact of forest fires on honey production. Forest fires were identified using MODIS MCD64A1 burned area data and Hansen Tree Cover data. Annu-al fire indicators for these fires were generated. These indicators were combined with pro-vincial honey and beeswax production data published by the Turkish Statistical Institute to create a panel dataset. Both instantaneous and delayed correlations were investigated in the resulting dataset. The findings indicate that the impacts of fires on honey produc-tion vary significantly across provinces. In İzmir and Adana, fires caused significant de-creases in honey production the following year. Fires in Amasya and Şanlıurfa triggered increased honey production the following year. The impact of fires in İstanbul and Antal-ya was limited. The results demonstrate that the impacts of fires on beekeeping depend on ecosystem characteristics and local production dynamics. This study combines remote sensing data with beekeeping statistics to suggest that post-fire policies and support pro-grams should be tailored to regional conditions.en_US
