A current research on beekeeping optimization problem
Özet
Beekeeping plays a vital role in agricultural productivity and ecological sustainability, with both stationary and migratory practices presenting unique operational challenges. Stationary beekeeping often suffers from hive overpopulation in limited floral areas, while migratory beekeeping introduces logistical and environmental uncertainties. This paper reviews optimization-based approaches applied to apiculture, emphasizing mathemati-cal models for hive placement, multi-criteria decision-making for beekeeper preferences, and routing formulations for migratory systems. Prior studies have demonstrated the benefits of mixed-integer programming, multi-objective optimization and metaheuristic methods. Building on these contributions, this study highlights the future research direc-tions of operations research applications for beekeeping. The discussion underscores that optimization should not only improve economic efficiency but also support environmen-tal resilience and social fairness, ensuring that decision-making in apiculture remains both practical and sustainable.
